Environmental Protection Policy

Jin Sheng Yuan supports the government's 2050 net-zero emissions policy and continuously reduces carbon emissions in the production process. To ensure effective greenhouse gas inventory operations, the "Sustainable Development Committee" was established under the Chairman's supervision. Carbon emission data is provided by plant sites and department heads, compiled by the committee, audited internally to correct deficiencies, and then submitted to the General Manager for approval.

Since 2021, we have annually followed the requirements of organizational greenhouse gas emissions (ISO14064-1:2018) to assess emissions at our Taiwan sites, as shown in Table 19. The 2021 emission data was verified in 2023 by the British Standards Institution (BSI), and we will continue to conduct annual greenhouse gas emissions verification. In 2023, Jin Sheng Yuan’s greenhouse gas emissions (Category 1 and Category 2) totaled 637.331 metric tons of CO2e, primarily from purchased electricity required for manufacturing. Indirect transportation emissions (Category 3) were also included, totaling 64.103 metric tons of CO2e. The total greenhouse gas emissions for 2023 amounted to 701.434 metric tons of CO2e (Categories 1–3).

Promoting Low-Carbon Transformation and Implementing Emission Reduction Measures

After conducting a greenhouse gas inventory, we found that electricity usage in manufacturing accounted for 80% of total emissions. Therefore, we have upgraded factory equipment to automated and low-energy-consumption systems to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions.

As a leading manufacturer of bicycle components, Jin Sheng Yuan requires suppliers to provide carbon footprint assessments and actively participates in joint carbon reduction goals. Internally, we conduct training programs to enhance employees' awareness of climate change and carbon reduction actions, encouraging energy-saving and low-carbon lifestyles. Employees are also encouraged to propose carbon reduction initiatives and participate in corporate sustainability programs.

Additional greenhouse gas reduction measures include providing incentives for employees who commute by bicycle, supporting public transportation usage to reduce personal car and motorcycle reliance, and promoting online meetings to minimize inter-factory travel.

Environmental Protection Initiatives

We have always placed great importance on environmental protection. In addition to improving energy efficiency and reducing pollution emissions, we actively comply with international agreements and environmental regulations, contributing to global environmental protection with the highest standards.

Replacing Primary Aluminum with Recycled Aluminum

Unlike traditional inefficient melting furnaces (electric furnaces), we use an electromagnetic induction furnace to improve heating efficiency, increasing material utilization from 85% to 95%, reducing energy consumption, and lowering aluminum slag production by 30%. We have recycled 110 tons of aluminum to manufacture bicycle components, reducing carbon emissions by 1,006.5 tons, thus creating both environmental and economic benefits.

Implementing a Coolant Recycling System

By using a large-cycle, high-flow, and long-stroke liquid return system, we enhance coolant heat dissipation and maintain low fluid temperatures. The system includes an internal circulation function during shutdown periods to keep the coolant flowing, effectively preventing bacterial growth and ensuring coolant quality while extending its lifespan. Additionally, centralized fluid supply facilitates waste liquid treatment, supporting ecological conservation and meeting environmental standards.

Introducing a Metal Recycling System

During bicycle component production, 50-60% of aluminum shavings are generated. We have collaborated with software companies to implement a recycling system that calculates recycled product carbon content, determines carbon costs, and improves carbon efficiency. This system also manages metal recycling and regeneration. It features a carbon disclosure function, storing carbon emissions data at every stage—collection, reprocessing, and transportation—in a cloud-based system, enhancing recycling management quality.

Using Eco-Friendly Packaging Materials

In response to the global plastic reduction trend, we collaborate with sustainable packaging suppliers, using PET-recycled plastic trays to deliver products to domestic customers. These trays are collected and reused, replacing non-recyclable plastic bags. This reduces plastic waste and minimizes labor, materials, and resources used in single-use packaging. For international shipments, we use recycled paper trays, eliminating individual product packaging. Our blister packs contain 30% recycled material, and our cartons are made from 100% recycled pulp, conserving natural resources and promoting sustainability.

Solar Photovoltaic System Installation

Our facility utilizes a high-efficiency solar power system comprising 418 solar panels to maximize solar energy usage. The system is designed for durability and high conversion efficiency, ensuring stable power supply while reducing carbon emissions. This aligns with our commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

Recycling Aluminum Shavings

We repurpose aluminum shavings from production to create high-quality aluminum grilles, effectively reducing material waste and minimizing environmental impact. These grilles offer superior durability and aesthetic design, optimizing factory space while embodying the values of green manufacturing.

RO Purified Water Waste Recycling

We have introduced an RO purified water waste recycling system to recover wastewater from the purification process. The recycled water is repurposed for cleaning, cooling, and other non-drinking applications, reducing water waste, improving resource efficiency, and supporting environmental sustainability.
